Last week, we had the privilege of attending SUNY Brockport’s Icons & Legends celebration, and what an unforgettable evening it was.
I was truly honored to be recognized as one of this year’s Icons & Legends honorees. To be included among such an accomplished group of SUNY Brockport alumni was deeply meaningful and inspiring. While recognition has never been the reason behind the work we do at Camp Good Days, it is always special to reflect on the journey and the many people who have helped make our mission possible along the way.

The entire Camp Good Days team had a wonderful time at the celebration. The evening was filled with meaningful conversations, laughter, and a shared appreciation for the power of community and service. What made

it even more memorable was the opportunity to meet and spend time with the other honorees. Each individual brought a unique story, perspective, and legacy of service, leadership, and achievement. It was inspiring to hear about their contributions and the impact they have made within their professions and communities.
For Camp Good Days, one relationship that has always been especially meaningful is our partnership with SUNY Brockport. Throughout the years, SUNY Brockport has been a tremendous friend and supporter of our mission. From hosting the Courage Bowl and helping us raise awareness about the needs of those we serve to providing countless opportunities for collaboration, the university has consistently demonstrated its commitment to making a difference.

I would be remiss if I did not take a moment to recognize President Heidi Macpherson, whose leadership has helped shape SUNY Brockport into the outstanding institution it is today. Throughout her tenure, Heidi has been a tremendous friend and supporter of Camp Good Days, and her dedication to community engagement has helped strengthen the longstanding partnership between our organizations. Her encouragement, friendship, and passion for serving others have helped create opportunities that have benefited countless children and families over the years. We are deeply grateful for all she has done for Camp Good Days and for the lasting impact she has had on our organization and community.
I would also like to recognize Vice President for Advancement and Communications and President of the Brockport Foundation, Mike Andriatch, for his friendship and support throughout the years. Mike has been a wonderful advocate for both SUNY Brockport and the community organizations it serves. His involvement with initiatives such as the Courage Bowl and his commitment to fostering meaningful partnerships have helped strengthen the relationship between SUNY Brockport and Camp Good Days. We are grateful for his dedication, leadership, and the many ways he has supported our mission over the years.
As they begin their retirements, I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to both Heidi and Mike. Thank you for your years of leadership, your dedication to SUNY Brockport, and your support of Camp Good Days. We wish you both happiness, good health, and fulfillment in the exciting new chapters ahead.
I would also like to congratulate Dr. Dawn Meza Soufleris on her recent appointment as SUNY Brockport’s next president. We look forward to welcoming her and continuing the strong partnership between SUNY Brockport and Camp Good Days. The university has been an incredible friend and supporter of our mission for many years, and I am excited about the opportunities ahead as we work together to continue making a positive impact in the lives of those we serve.
As I reflect on the evening, I am reminded that none of us achieves anything alone. Every milestone is made possible by the people who believe in us, support us, and work alongside us. I share this recognition with the dedicated staff, volunteers, donors, campers, and families who have been part of the Camp Good Days journey over the years.
Thank you again to SUNY Brockport for a truly memorable evening. It is an honor I will cherish, and I look forward to continuing the wonderful partnership between SUNY Brockport and Camp Good Days for many years to come.
