Looking Back on the 44th Annual Teddi Dance for Love

Every year, when the Teddi Dance for Love comes around, I find myself looking forward to it more than I probably realize at first. I’ve been blessed to be part of this event for many years now, and no matter how many times I attend, it never feels routine.
The week always begins with the Beary Brunch, which really serves as the kickoff for everything that follows. It’s a meaningful morning that gives us a chance to come together with the everyone that has a part in making this event happen and share with the community why the Teddi Dance for Love matters and officially start the week knowing exactly who we are doing this for — our campers.
At both the Beary Brunch and again at the dance, we had the opportunity to hear from Monroe County Executive Adam Bello, the Honorary Chair, ATF Special Agent Michael Curran, and St. John Fisher University President Gerald Rooney. Listening to them speak at both events was a special experience. Each of them spoke with sincerity and heart, and it was clear how much this event — and our campers — meant to them. I’m always grateful when people take the time to truly understand our mission and help share it with others.
I was also fortunate enough to be able to speak at both the Beary Brunch and the dance again this year. That’s something I never take lightly. Being able to stand before a room full of people who care so deeply about our campers is something I cherish. I truly love being part of this event, and I’m thankful every year that I’m still able to be there, tell our story, and witness the impact firsthand.
When the night of the dance arrived, the room was filled with excitement. Held once again at St. John Fisher University, the 44th Annual Teddi Dance for Love brought together students, families, and supporters who have made this event what it is year after year. The campers had an incredible time. They danced, laughed, and enjoyed every moment, and watching that never gets old for me. Seeing them simply be kids — carefree and happy — is a reminder of why Camp Good Days was created in the first place.
This year’s Teddi Dance for Love raised over $80,000 for Camp Good Days. Those funds help make programs like our Florida Fun Fest possible — a trip that gives our campers the chance to experience joy, excitement, and memories that will last a lifetime, all at no cost to their families. It’s one of the many ways this event directly touches the lives of the children we serve.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again — events like the Teddi Dance for Love stay with you. They remind me why this organization exists and why the support of a caring community matters so much. I’m proud to be part of it, and I’m grateful to everyone who helped make this year’s event such a success.
Because of you, we can continue creating good days and special times for the children and families who need them most.
