Kicking off the new year with our Annual Florida Fun Fest is something I always look forward to. Each year, Camp Good Days brings a group of campers to Orlando for a week filled with sunshine, laughter, and experiences that allow them to simply be kids. It’s a trip that serves as a powerful reminder of why creating these moments matters so much.
For many of our campers, life has required them to grow up far too quickly. Florida Fun Fest offers a break from that reality and gives them the opportunity to experience the magic of places like Walt Disney World, Disney Springs, and Universal Orlando. From walking down Main Street in Magic Kingdom to taking in the excitement of Universal and Islands of Adventure, every stop along the way added to a week they will never forget.
What I enjoy most each year is seeing the constant smiles on the campers’ faces and hearing them talk about everything they’re experiencing. Whether they were sharing their favorite rides, talking about something new they tried, or simply soaking in the moment, their excitement was contagious, and it was clear how much this trip meant to them.
Throughout the week, the campers continued to form strong bonds, gain confidence, and embrace every experience in front of them. Watching them laugh, relax, and feel free to be themselves was yet another reminder of what Camp Good Days is all about—giving children their childhood back and surrounding them with understanding, joy, and connection.
I feel incredibly grateful to be able to share these moments with our campers. Being part of an experience that creates such meaningful memories is something I never take for granted. Florida Fun Fest isn’t just a trip; it’s an opportunity to create memories that stay with these children long after the week is over.
This trip would not be possible without the incredible Teddi Dance for Love fundraiser at St. John Fisher University. I am deeply grateful to the Teddi Dance Committee, the dedicated students and faculty at Fisher, and the wider community who continue to support the dance year after year. Because of their commitment and generosity, Camp Good Days is able to fund experiences like Florida Fun Fest and give our campers a week filled with smiles, memories, and moments they will carry with them forever.
